Foreign Minister Valtonen to visit Berlin for bilateral discussions and NATO cyber defence conference

Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit Berlin on 9 November 2023 to meet with Germany’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock and to attend the NATO Annual Cyber Defence Conference.

The foreign ministers will discuss current foreign and security policy affairs, Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Middle East, the EU’s enlargement, and bilateral matters.

“Finland and Germany cooperate closely in foreign and security policy and in trade. We will continue to strengthen this relationship. We have many common interests to promote and current affairs to discuss,” Foreign Minister Valtonen says.

In Berlin, Minister Valtonen will also attend the NATO Annual Cyber Defence Conference, which is a meeting of foreign ministers organised by Germany.

“Malicious cyber activities have increased significantly in recent years, and cyber security is of great importance to NATO. As a new NATO member, Finland will contribute to the development of NATO’s cyber security by making our national expertise available to the Alliance and by learning from our Allies,” Minister Valtonen says.
