British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott MP visits Finland

British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott MP will visit Helsinki on Friday 19 May. The visit will take place at the invitation of Finnish Government. The Deputy Prime Minister’s pre-EU Presidency visit to Finland will take place on behalf of Prime Minister Tony Blair. During the visit the Deputy Prime Minister Prescott will meet Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja and Minister of Trade and Industry Mauri Pekkarinen.

Foreign Minister Tuomioja and Deputy Prime Minister Prescott will discuss among other things the future of Europe, EU's enlargement, and the relations with the European Parliament. A range of international topics of common interest to Finland and the UK will also be discussed.
