First Finnish Honorary Consul in Tirana

In Tirana Mr. Bardhyl Minxhozi has started his duties as the first Honorary Consul of Finland. The consular district of Mr. Minxhozi comprises all Albania. The aim of Mr. Minxhozi is to promote and support the good progress of the relations between Finland and Albania in cooperation with the Embassy.

The opening of the Honorary Consulate was celebrated with a reception hosted by Ambassador Erkki Huittinen in Tirana.The reception honoured also the visit of Mr. Markus Lyra, Under-Secretry of State of Finnish Foreign Ministry, to Albania and it was attended by various representatives of the Albanian society and the government including Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha.

Also the diplomatic corps and the small Finnish community in Albania were invited.

Mr. Minxhozi supported the preparation of the successful visit of Mr. Lyra as well as the preparations of the regional meeting of Finnish Ambassador of the Western Balkans which took place in the sidelines of the visit.

The Embassy of Finland in Athens has covered Albania since summer 2007. The appointment of Mr. Minxhozi supports the work of the Embassy in promotion of Finland in Albania, though the issuing of the visas to Finland is still operated by the Embassy of Denmark in Tirana.(Link to another website.)
