New Helsinki Quartet in Nafplion Festival

The annual Nafplion Festival kicks off on June 19th and promises lots of music all the way through to June 28th.

The Finnish New Helsinki Quartet plays works of  J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart and J. Sibelius on Sunday 28th June at 9 pm. in Palamidi.

The NHQ is the composition of the most talented Finnish musicians mainly from the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. In HNQ play musicians Petri Aarnio, Violin, Taija Kilpiö, Violin, Ilari Angervo, Viola and Joel Laakso, Cello.

The repertoire of this versatile ensemble ranges from the classical to the avant-garde, and its special affinity for contemporary music has led NHQ to the premieres and performances of works by the contemporary composers.

18th Nafplion Festival

Internationally acclaimed personalities and ensembles from the music scene appear in this year's concerts:Royal Danish Orcestra, Trondheim Soloist, Michala Petri, Arild Quartet, Stockholm Brass, Helsinki Quartet and many others. In collaboration with the Nordic Culture Fund, the Danish Arts Council and the Embassies of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland in Greece.

The Festival and the artistic director, the well known pianist Yiannis Vakarelis, in its 18th consecutive year, features a panorama of unique musical performances staged at four of the city's major venues.  According to Yiannis Vakarelis "culture is the shortest and safest way to stir emotions and soften souls".
Parallel event is a painting exhibition Danish artist Canuto Kallan.
