Marianne Nissilä-Batakis nominated as the Honorary Consul for the Chania and Rethymnon regions on Crete

Marianne Nissilä-Batakis

Ms. Marianne Nissilä-Batakis has been nominated as the Honorary Consul for the Chania and Rethymnon regions on Crete.

As the title says, Honorary Consul is an honorary task. In consular services, she works in close cooperation with the Embassy and her main duty is to advice the clients locally. Honorary Consul cannot issue passports or other travel documents, but she can issue certain notary certificates (certify signature,  a true copy of a document and that a person is alive).

The focus of the work of an Honorary Consul is more than before turning to promoting Finland, its foreign trade and investments to Finland. Good local contacts are crucial in the work of an Honorary Consul.

Marianne came to Greece as a tourist guide in 1987 and moved here permanently year 1991. Marianne is a trained nurse, but has been running holiday appartments in Platanias for the past 12 years. She is married with three adult children.
