European elections 2019 – advance voting in Greece
Advance voting in the European elections will be possible in Greece from 15th to 18th of May 2019. In Greece, there will be four advance polling stations. Please check the advance polling stations’ addresses and opening hours from the list below. Eligible voters can vote by post, too.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for the organisation of advance voting abroad. Finland’s diplomatic and consular missions and their offices will serve as advance polling stations abroad. A possibility for advance voting will be provided at 168 Finnish diplomatic or consular missions or their offices in 80 different countries. In Finland, the elections to the European Parliament will be held on Sunday 26 May 2019.
Eligible votes residing abroad, who have given their postal address abroad to their latest municipality of residence in Finland, will receive a notification of eligibility to vote (polling card) by post. The polling card may be presented at the polling station but voting is possible also without it. A passport or some other official ID must be presented at the polling station.
In European elections, a person eligible to vote may only do so in one EU Member State: either their home country or their country of residence. A Finnish citizen, who has registered as a voter in the European elections in another EU Member State by the prescribed date, is not entitled to vote in the European elections in Finland. Eligible voters, who have registered to vote in the European elections in their country of residence but later want to vote in the European elections in Finland, must contact the election authorities in their country of residence to cancel their earlier registration.
This means that in the European elections to be held in the spring, eligible expatriate Finns and eligible voters who reside in Finland but are temporarily staying abroad at the time of the elections may vote by post.
