Mr. Juha Mustonen, the Director of International Relations of Hybrid CoE visited Prague
Mr. Juha Mustonen, the Director of International Relations of Hybrid Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE) located in Helsinki visited Prague at the beginning of May to meet up with Czech and International colleagues. During his visit to the Embassy we had a chance to ask him a few questions.

Director of Foresight and Policy Planning of the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Mr. Pekka Lindroos, participated at Insitute for Politics and Society conference on Artificial Intelligence
Director of Foresight and Policy Planning of the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment Mr. Pekka Lindroos visited Prague on May 9th to discuss Artifical Intelligence (AI) matters with representatives of the Czech administration. He also participated as one of the main speakers to the Institute for Politics and Society conference on Artifial Intelligence.

New Ambassadors to Brazil, Hungary and Czech Republic
At the presidential session on Friday 20 April, the President of the Republic appointed new Ambassadors of Finland. Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Jouko Leinonen will transfer to Brazil, Ambassador Markku Virri to Hungary, and Senior Adviser Jukka Pesola to the Czech Republic. They will assume their new functions on 1 September 2018.

IV International Uuno Klami Composition Competition 2018-2019 gets under way
The International Uuno Klami Composition Competition, one of the world’s foremost composition competitions, is being held for the fourth time in 2018–2019. The competition’s aim is to enrich and diversify the repertoire scored specifically for an orchestra of sinfonietta size and to discover and promote contemporary European music and composition under the name of Finnish composer Mr. Uuno Klami (1900–1961). The competition is organised by a Patrons’ Association.

Honorary Consul General of Finland in Bratislava, Mr Karol Kállay, received the Order of the Lion of Finland
Mr. Karol Kállay, Honorary Consul General of Finland in Bratislava, received the insignia of Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland. The state award was conferred by President of the Republic of Finland H.E. Mr. Sauli Niinistö in recognition of Mr. Kállay's exceptional merit in furthering Finland's interests in Slovakia. Mr. Kállay has offered his valuable contribution throughout his career as Honorary Consul General of Finland since 1997.

Merkel wins award in Finland, chooses group in Niger as prize money recipient
Finland awards the International Gender Equality Prize, the first high-profile prize of its kind in the world, to someone who has advanced equality among genders. Rather than collecting the prize money, that person selects a cause to receive a major contribution.
