Statement by Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja regarding Aceh talks

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland is informed of efforts undertaken by President Martti Ahtisaari and Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) to facilitate a meeting between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM). The tragic catastrophe which the region has suffered serves to underline the urgency of such talks. The Government of Finland supports these efforts and hopes they will lead to early results.
