Minister Enestam to the presidential inauguration in Ukraine

Jan-Erik Enestam, Minister of the Environment and Minister for Nordic Cooperation at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, will represent Finland at the inauguration of Ukraine’s new president on Sunday 23 January in Kiev.

The result of Ukraine’s presidential election was confirmed on Thursday 20 January, as Ukraine’s Supreme Court announced that it had rejected the appeals against the results filed by the other candidate in the re-run, Viktor Yanukovych. The guests participating in the inauguration ceremony have been invited to the swearing-in of President Viktor Yushchenko at the Ukraine parliament as well as to an official reception on the day of the inauguration. In addition Minister Enestam will listen to President Yushchenko’s speech to the people at the Place of Independence, Maidan Nezalezhnost in Kiev, which became known as the centre for the popular movement during the election.
