Vacancy: Adviser, Economic and Commercial Affairs, Embassy of Finland in Bogotá

The Adviser will play a key role in strengthening the Team Finland network in Latin America. S/he will work under the supervision of the Ambassador and the Deputy Head of Mission in supporting Finnish companies that are already active in the focus countries or planning their market entry. The Adviser will have an important advisory and coordinating role between the key stakeholders, including e.g. Business Finland, Finnish companies and local private and public sector entities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and advisory services to Finnish private sector entities in Colombia, Panama and Venezuela in close collaboration with Business Finland
  • Prepare analytical reports on economic and trade policies and business opportunities in the focus countries
  • Input relevant information to the customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Independently organize the Embassy’s Team Finland visits and events
  • Liaise and build networks with both public and private sector partners
  • Represent the Embassy at official meetings
  • Produce high-quality materials and create presentations
  • Develop blog posts and social media content
  • Compile data and results for Team Finland reports
  • Support other colleagues in training and supervising interns
  • Other related tasks

  • Understanding of the business environment and related opportunities/challenges in Colombia, Panama and Venezuela
  • Ability to display initiative and proactively take on projects and tasks
  • Computer literate, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Finance, Resource Management or related field, and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. Previous experience of working for an embassy or other international organization is an asset.

Language requirements:

Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
Proficiency in Finnish or Swedish is an asset.

Visa and work permit:

A valid work visa is required in order to live and work in Colombia.

Salary range:

Gross monthly salary of 7.7 million to 9.2 million COP, depending on qualifications and experience.
