Timo Oula Ambassador to Afghanistan

The President of the Republic appointed on Friday 19 December Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Timo Oula as Head of the Finnish Embassy in Kaboul, Afghanistan as from 1 January 2009.

Since 2006, Oula has been serving as Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in this Embassy.

Oula entered the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1973. At the Ministry, he has occupied various posts in the Legal Department and the Political Department, the Department for External Economic Relations, the Department for Development Policy, and the Department for Global Affairs. As for service in Finnish diplomatic missions abroad, he has served the Finnish Embassies in Berlin, Beyrouth, Bonn, Dar es Salaam and Prague. In Harare, he has occupied the post of Chargé d'Affaires a.i.

He has also been posted to the Embassies in Baghdad, Beijing and Warsaw for shorter periods of time.
