New Country Strategy for Zambia
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has prepared Country Strategies for bilateral cooperation for 2016–2019 for 9 countries, Zambia being one among them. The new strategies lay greater emphasis than before on, for example, the improvement of the position and rights of women and girls and on strengthening the partner countries' business life. Additionally the cooperation will be more specifically targeted. The Strategies underline that not only funding but also policy dialogue are necessary.

CodeBus Africa in Zambia
CodeBus Africa makes Finland’s 100 years of independence seen and heard on the African continent. It aims at getting youth excited about the possibilities of technology and IT. Like in all other countries, also in Zambia the school kids learned how to code beats in the workshops organized. In addition a concert with Finnish and Zambian top names like Paleface and Cactus was organized.

From Disabilities to Strengths - Finland supports Zambian Film Industry and Work against Gender-Based Violence
Embassy of Finland in Zambia supports Vilole Image Productions (VIP)in raising awareness about gender-based violence experienced by disabled women. VIP uses audio-visual tools in defending the human rights of this marginalized group, and with the support of Fund for Local Cooperation, VIP produces a short documentary and a short film about the topic.

Sweden and Finland celebrating 250 years of Press Freedom

Some 30 suspicions of misuse of development cooperation funds every year
In 2015, a total of 30 suspicions of misuse of development cooperation funds were reported to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs: five via an external whistle-blower system and 25 via internal channels. The Ministry takes all suspicions of misuse very seriously and alleged cases of misuse are always examined.

Forest surveys in developing countries support climate change mitigation
Finland’s support has helped developing countries map their forest resources with good results. Decisions on climate change mitigation and adaptation require background information on the number of forests, changes to forests, and species.
