Finland 100 years: a true one one-off experience in Lusaka
The Embassy of Finland in Zambia celebrated the 100 years of Finnish independence on 6th December 2017 like so many other Finnish Embassies in the world. This party was unlike others. There were approximately 400 guests and it was the biggest event organized by the embassy so far. The guests, possibly expecting an average dull cocktail party on a working day evening were in for a surprise even before the fireworks hit the skies.

31,183 kilometres travelled and countless business cards exchanged
A Finnish business delegation representing actors in the mining, energy and forestry sectors set out to find new partners and strengthen existing business contacts in early September with the goal of increasing trade and investments between the countries. After a few days in Mozambique, the delegation led by Mr. Jari Lindström, the Minister of Employment of Finland, arrived in Zambia.

Improving human rights awareness of mining communities in Zimbabwe
The huge open pits have big ponds like little lakes. Several animals and, the story goes, even a little girl bringing cattle home have drowned in these ponds. These pits have been left after the excavations by the mining company active in the area, and the local communities demand that they should be filled because of the danger the pits cause for people and animals. The pits have also ruined the landscape.
