New Ambassador to the Holy See

The Ambassador of Finland, Risto Piipponen presented his credentials to His Holiness, Pope Francis on 17 May 2018.

At a formal ceremony held at the Vatican, Ambassador Piipponen exchanged a few words with Pope Francis and expressed his honour to represent Finland and to strengthen relations with the Holy See, which were established in 1942. He was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Marjatta Piipponen.

Ambassador Piipponen is Finland's 21st Ambassador to the Holy See. Finland’s representation to the Holy See is located at the historic Villa Lante in Rome, which is also home to the Finnish Institute.
