Finland’s Foreign Service to adopt new ‘gov.fi’ email suffix

As of 15 May, the email addresses of the staff members at Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and missions abroad will be, as a rule, in the format [email protected]. The change is part of the overall harmonisation of the Government’s email addresses.

GOV.FI firstname.lastname@gov.fi

The general email addresses of the Foreign Ministry and the missions will also change. The change will not affect the website addresses of the Ministry or the missions. They will remain the same.

The ‘gov.fi’ suffix is easily identifiable and the same principle is in use in other countries. A uniform system of email addresses makes it easier to contact the Government. It also makes it easier for government staff to switch jobs between different ministries.

Emails sent to the old email addresses will reach their recipients for the next two years. Read more on the Government website(Link to another website.).
