Finland Opens New Application Centres on the West Coast

Finland is improving the submission of Schengen Visa applications and study or employment based residence permit applications on the West Coast.  

Los Angeles Application Center opens on November 19, 2018. Appointments can be made from November 12 onwards. Other Finland VFS Global Centre locations  are in Washington, D.C, New York, Houston, Chicago and San Francisco.

Finland VFS Global Centre will open on November 29, 2018 in Vancouver Canada, were study and employment based residence permit applicants living in the state of Washington can submit their biometric data (photo and fingerprints).  Vancouver Centre will not accept visa applications.

The aim of outsourcing is to simplify the submission of Schengen visa applications and work and study-related residence permit applications as well as to offer more comprehensive services for applicants. Visa applications and biometric data for residence permit applications must always be submitted in person, and an appointment is mandatory.

Visa applications will continue to be processed in the Finnish missions also in the future. The Finnish Immigration Service is the decision-making authority in residence permit matters. The missions continue to accept other than work and study-related residence permit applications and passport applications.
