Consulate General of Finland in New York will bring the portable passport unit to Dallas Oct 1st-5th 2018

A passport must be applied for in person. An appointment is required from the Honorary Consulate in Dallas directly by September 7th:

A passport application can only be processed if the applicant´s personal data (e.g., name, date/place of birth and citizenship) is correct and up-to-date in the Finnish Population Information System according to Population Information Act (661/2009). E.g., name change due to marriage or a child born outside Finland needs to be registered in the Finnish Population Information System before submitting a passport application. The information may be checked from the Local Register Office http://www.maistraatti.fi(Link to another website.) once a year without any fees.


 Documents must be presented as both original and copy:

- Passport photo max 6 months old according to police instructions (www.poliisi.fi(Link to another website.)): e.g., neutral facial expression, taken from front (no tilting one’s head, not having chin too up/down), enough light backdrop above the head, not too dark/light, no reflection of the eyeglasses in front of the eyes, no hair covering the face, no retouching, must be a color photograph.

- A previous Finnish passport + copy of ID-page. If an applicant does not have a previous passport or it has expired, a valid ID + copy needs to be presented (for instance Finnish identity card or US driver’s license)

- A proof of Finnish citizenship e.g. US visa or Green Card (+copy). Applicants of multi/dual citizenship shall confirm that the foreign citizenship is registered in the Finnish Population Registry. Otherwise, an applicant shall present a proof of the date when the foreign citizenship was obtained e.g. original or legalized US citizenship naturalization or a birth certificate. (+copy).

- Male applicants age of 17-30: a document of military service status: e.g., military passport, certificate of exemption or suspension order + copy.

- An applicant under 18 years of age needs to submit their ID + copy and their parents/custodians’ consent and IDs + copies for the passport application. If both custodians are not present at the time of applying for the passport, a written and signed consent with a date and contact information needs to be presented from the other custodian alongside a copy of their ID.

- Passport fee (will be announced before the trip) + FedEx dispatch fee 10 USD: exact amount to be paid with one Money Order. No credit cards, cash or personal checks.

The Consulate General will send the application form to all confirmed applicants a few weeks before the trip takes place alongside information on the confirmed passport fee for October. The passport application needs to be filled out beforehand, but not signed before the appointment.
