The Consulate General of Finland in NY is offering a full time internship position in the field of Cultural Affairs and Creative Industries starting September 5, 2023, for a duration of 3 months.
The Consulate General of Finland in New York promotes Finland’s commercial and cultural interests and strengthens Finland’s country image in the US through public diplomacy. The Consulate General is responsible for consular and Finland’s entry services in New York and 34 other states situated on the East Coast and the Midwest, in addition to two special administrative regions Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Cultural Affairs and Creative Industries Intern
The Consulate General of Finland is now offering a full time, 3-month internship position (36 h 15 min per week) in the field of Cultural Affairs and Creative Industries starting March 20, 2023, or as per agreement. The intern will work as a part of the Consulate General’s Economic and Cultural Affairs and Communications Team.
Internship description

Assisting in planning and carrying out events

Assisting in co-operation with partners, esp. with Finnish and American partners and the Nordic countries

Participating in Consulate General’s communications and assisting with relevant media relations

Research on relevant topics

Managing contact lists
Exact description will be determined according to current ongoing projects at the Consulate General and depending on the competences and interest areas of selected applicant.
Qualifications

Ongoing BA/MA studies on a relevant field
-
Genuine interest in cultural affairs and/or creative industries
-
Strong skills in both teamwork and working independently, excellent communications skills
-
Good IT and social media skills
-
Excellent knowledge of English language (knowledge of Finnish language is also preferred)

Experience in working in an international environment is a plus

This internship position is unpaid. All applicants must have appropriate funding for the internship from their educational institution or foundation approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and must show proof if selected. We cannot consider applicants without proof of sufficient funding.
The applicant based outside of Finland must have proper travel insurance or insurance provided by the educational institution.
Security clearance
Selected applicant is subject to background checks and will require a security clearance prior to starting the internship.
