The Consulate General of Finland is looking for an intern for the Cultural Affairs and Creative Industries Team

The Consulate General of Finland is offering a full time internship position in the field of Cultural Affairs and Creative Industries starting November 1, 2022 for a duration of 3 months.


 

The Consulate General of Finland in New York promotes Finland’s commercial interests, works on improving the operational conditions for the Finnish cultural agents and strengthens Finland’s national brand through the means of public diplomacy. The Consulate General is also responsible for consular and entry services in New York as well as in other states, and special administrative areas that fall within the scope of the Consulate’s activity. The activity scope of the Consulate General of Finland in New York covers 35 states situated on the East Coast and in the Midwest, as well as two special administrative regions (Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands).

The Consulate General of Finland is now offering a full time (40 h per week) internship position in the field of Cultural Affairs and Creative Industries starting November 1, 2022 for a duration of 3 months, or as per agreement. The intern will work as a part of the Consulate General’s Economic and Cultural Affairs and Communications Team.

Internship description:

  • Assisting in planning and carrying out events in co-operation with partners, esp. with Finnish and American partners and the Nordic countries

  • Participate in Consulate General’s communications work and assisting with relevant media relations

  • Managing contact lists

  • Exact description will be determined according to current ongoing projects at the Consulate General and depending on the abilities and interest of selected applicant.

Qualifications:

  • Ongoing BA/MA studies on relevant field

  • Interest in working with cultural affairs and creative industries

  • Strong skills in both teamwork and working independently, excellent communications skills

  • Good IT and social media skills

  • Excellent knowledge of English language (knowledge of Finnish language is not mandatory)

  • Experience in working in an international work environment is a plus
