The Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces celebration

This year the Finnish Flag Day celebration was arranged on 1 June 2022 at the residence of Ambassador Ari Mäki.  Several medals were also awarded at the reception.

In Finland, 4 June is the Finnish Flag Day. It is the official celebration of the Finnish Armed Forces. On that special day, honorary soldiers and reservists are usually promoted. In Finland, Defence Forces arrange military parades in various locations on that day. 4 June is also the birthday of military leader and President Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim.

In Ankara, the Finnish Flag Day celebration was arranged on 1 June at the residence of Ambassador Ari Mäki. This year's celebration included also farewell to Colonel Juha Mäkelä and Captain Toni Tolvanen and a welcome to Lieutenant Colonel Harri Paldanius. In total, 145 people attended the reception.

At the reception, Assistance Defence Attache Captain Toni Tolvanen received the Knight of the Order of the Lion of Finland given by President of Finland Sauli Niinistö. Media operator Semra Turgutcan received Medal for Military Merits given by the Chief of Defence Forces of Finland, and Office Assistant and Media Operator Gulcin Erdem received the Cross of the Merit of Military Intelligence of Finland given by the Head of FDA of Finland.
