The Nordic Film Festival returns in 2025

BANGKOK, 14 JANUARY 2025 – The Embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden are pleased to announce the return of the Nordic Film Festival (NFF). The festival’s opening night will be held on Thursday, 23 January, followed by public screenings on 24 and 25 January. The festival will be held in the garden of the Royal Danish Embassy. Admission is free for all attendees, and all films will be screened with English subtitles.

The NFF offers a unique cultural experience where a Thai audience can explore the rich cinematic traditions of the Nordic countries. The outdoor festival will showcase a selection of quality films from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Beyond entertainment, the festival aims to highlight Nordic creativity and values and to foster cultural exchange between the Nordic region and Thailand.

This year’s lineup includes a diverse mix of films from each Nordic country:

  • Denmark: The Promised Land, a historical drama where Mads Mikkelsen stars as Captain Ludvig Kahlen, determined to transform barren 18th-century Danish land against overwhelming odds.
  • Finland: Tove, a biographical drama exploring the life of Tove Jansson, her personal relationships, and the creation of the beloved Moomin books.
  • Norway: Sonja, a critically acclaimed portrayal of Sonja Henie, the iconic ice-skating superstar, tracing her rise to fame, Hollywood success, and personal challenges.
  • Sweden: Comedy Queen, a film about a young girl who uses humour and her dream of stand-up comedy to cope with grief and rediscover joy.
