Nordic embassies promote healthy lifestyles in the second annual Nordic Walk & Run

Press release 13.11.2024

The four Nordic embassies accredited to Thailand; namely Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden are organizing the second annual Nordic Walk & Run in Benjakitti Park this upcoming Saturday November 16th at 6.30 am. The event will again gather around 500 runners and walkers in promoting the healthy Nordic lifestyle for all, and showcasing Nordic companies offering solutions for a balanced, green and happy life. Included is also a new exhibition on Sustainable Nordic Cities and the innovation lessons they have to offer. The event is organized in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority.

“We Nordics love nature and are always surrounded by it. Walking, running and skiing in our forests, fields and mountains and sailing in our lakes and oceans is a way of life for us. Hence, we wanted to bring a piece of that to the most beautiful Park in Thailand and invite people out to move and take care of their health,” says ambassador of Finland, H.E. Kristiina Kuvaja.

The Nordic countries have the world’s most ambitious carbon emission reduction targets and have placed combatting climate change in the heart of their foreign policies.

“As nature is important for us, we wanted to make this a sustainable event where we have thought about the environment at every step of the planning. We believe that climate change is the biggest challenge our world faces and we want to take care of the beautiful nature of Thailand,” adds ambassador of Sweden, H.E. Anna Hammargren.

“We also want to promote a holistic approach to city development and healthcare for the well-being of its citizens and reduce environmental impacts by encouraging active transportation and adaptable urban planning. It’s important to build cities that encourage people to walk, run and enjoy the outdoors,” continues ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Danny Annan.

The event consists of either a 5 or 10 kilometer running and walking course and is free to all participants, but it requires a pre-registration that is already fully booked. The event is organized in a sustainable and plastic free manner.

“The public registration filled up immediately again this year, so we know there is a definitely a high demand for such an event,” ends ambassador of Norway, H.E. Astrid Emilie Helle.

The event is kindly made possible by the generous sponsorship of AstraZeneca, Autoliv, Bumrungrad International Hospital, Jotun, Kone, Linak, Nokia, Novo Nordisk, Pandora, Saab, Valmet and Yara.
