A New Head of Mission to Saudi Arabia and a non-resident Ambassador to Cap Verde

On 9 May the President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Pekka Voutilainen as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 1 June 2014.

Voutilainen will move to Riyadh from the Embassy of Finland in New Delhi, India, where he is serving as Minister Counsellor. He has also worked in the Embassies of Finland in Washington, Bangkok and Vienna, and in the Finnish Permanent Representation to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

In the Ministry Voutilainen has served, among other things, in the Department of External Economic Relations.

Voutilainen joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1988. He has gained experience of international positions as Policy Director at the American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham.

The President of the Republic also appointed the Ambassador of Finland to Portugal Outi Holopainen to serve as non-resident Ambassador to Cap Verde.
