Youth media forum in Palestine

Description

Social exclusion of youth is one of the most serious development problems in Palestine. Many young people have little prospects of improving their lives, and youth unemployment is very high both in West Bank and Gaza. The Youth Media Forum Project aims to prevent the exclusion of Palestinian youth by giving them experiences of civic activism and social participation in their communities and societes. The main objective of the project is to improve the participation and empowerment of the youth by offering them platforms for meetings (both face-to-face and online) where they can process issues related to their lives. They will also learn media skills and have experience of producing media content which will help them to make their voices heard in the future. The project aims to reduce inequality among the youth by inviting the most vulnerable groups (youth living in refugee camps and disabled people, such as deaf) to join the action. The project promotes dialogue between young people from different backgrounds and it is open to everybody, also for those who are better off in the local context. Both Muslims and Christians will participate in the action. Gender equality is promoted by ensuring that minimum 50 % of the beneficiaries are girls or young women and they will be encouraged to civic participation. The project is committed to climate proofing. A risk assessment will be conducted at the beginning of the project. Use of web-based or video conferencing systems and social media channels enables the young Palestinians from around the world to participate in action without travelling. The final beneficiaries are Palestinian youth between ages 14–26 from Palestinian Territories, Isarel, Golan Heighs, and Palestinian refugees from the neighbouring countries and around the world. The projet's main activities are: 1) Planning the concept and making the action plan of the media forum and media camps 2) Executing the media forum and media camps 2013–2015 3) Planning and implementing the activities in social media
