Latvian Foreign Minister to visit Finland
Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will meet Minister for Foreign Affairs of Latvia Baiba Braže in Helsinki on 13 June. Braže was appointed as Foreign Minister in April.
Foreign Minister Braže will take part in the Kultaranta Talks on 13 June 2024 on the invitation of the President of the Republic and attend the CBSS Ministerial Session on 14 June 2024 on the invitation of Foreign Minister Valtonen.
In their bilateral meeting, the foreign ministers will discuss the relations between Finland and Latvia, regional cooperation and the security situation in the Baltic Sea region. Support for Ukraine, topical NATO issues and the situation in the Middle East are other topics on the agenda.
“Finland and Latvia have excellent relations, and Finland’s membership in NATO will further strengthen these relations. I find it excellent that we can discuss both regional and security issues extensively with our closest partners. Latvia, as well as Finland, has experience of instrumentalised migration, which makes discussions on the topic particularly important,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen.
