Ministry for Foreign Affairs to send assistance for flood victims in Pakistan

In recent weeks, Pakistan has been ravaged by a cyclone that has caused damage leaving 400,000 people homeless. In all, the number of people in need of assistance amounts to 2.5 million.

In order to assist the victims, on Wednesday 18 July, the UN launched in Geneva a flash appeal for 28 million euros. The emergency appeal of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is for 13 million euros.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is preparing a contribution of somewhat over a million euros from the allocations for humanitarian assistance, to be administered through UN agencies and the Finnish Red Cross.
