When has Finland opened an embassy in Islamabad?


The embassy's operations begun on September 1, 2022, but the representation does not yet have office facilities.
 

How can I get my immigration matters handled if the representation does not have an office?


Residence permit matters are handled at the Finnish representation in Abu Dhabi, as it has been until now. The Netherlands continues for the time being to represent Finland in visa matters, thus a visa to Finland is applied for at the Dutch representation in Islamabad. 
 

Where can I get my consular and notary service matters handled?


Notary services and other non-urgent consular services(Link to another website.) are for the time being provided at the Finnish representation in Abu Dhabi.

However, urgent services provided to a Finnish citizen or a foreigner permanently residing in Finland in distress have been transferred to the representation in Islamabad as of September 1, 2022.
 

How can I get my passport or identity card matter handled?


You can apply for a Finnish passport and identity card abroad(Link to another website.) at any Finnish representation that handles passport matters. The Finnish representation in Islamabad does not yet handle passport matters. In Finland, you can apply for a passport and identity card through any Police customer service point. Under certain conditions, you can also apply for a Finnish passport and identity card electronically through the Police’s e-services.

For the time being, alien’s passport matters for persons living in and visiting Pakistan are handled at the Finnish representation in Abu Dhabi.
 

When will the Finnish representation in Islamabad open its customer service?


The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will on its website inform when consular, notary, passport and immigration services will be transferred to the Finnish representation in Islamabad.
