Finnish delegation to the inauguration of the historical Mostar Bridge

The historical and newly rebuilt Old Bridge in Mostar, which was destroyed during the war in Bosnia in 1993, will be inaugurated on Friday, 23 July. The reconstruction of the bridge was launched in 1997. The bridge over the Neretva River in Bosnia and Herzegovina, built in 1566, has been considered a symbol of Bosnia’s existence. It was included in Unesco’s world heritage list.
A Finnish delegation to the inauguration will be led by Ambassador Alpo Rusi, who presented his credentials to the chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina's tripartite presidency, Sulejman Tihic, last week, with Juhani Väänänen, Head of the Unit for the Western Balkans at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and Elisabeth Rehn, Special Representative to the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.
