Requirements and options for exiting New Zealand

The New Zealand Government has announced foreign nationals are now able to travel domestically (whether by air or land) when they have a confirmed and scheduled international flight.

Please review all the requirements and options available for exiting New Zealand here: https://covid19.govt.nz/help-and-advice/for-travellers/domestic-travel/(Link to another website.)

For the duration of COVID-19 Alert Level 4, foreign nationals returning home will be considered engaging in “essential travel”. Commercial capacity between New Zealand and Europe will be increased with a second daily flight between Doha and Auckland.

You must travel via the most direct route and you must comply with NZ Government COVID-19 physical distancing requirements throughout the journey to the airport.

If taking a domestic flight to connect with your international flight, that flight must be scheduled to depart no earlier than 24 hours before the scheduled departure time of the international flight.

Foreign nationals seeking to leave New Zealand will not be allowed to leave self-isolation to travel if they are at risk of COVID-19. This includes anyone who:

  • Has been diagnosed with COVID-19;
  • Has symptoms consistent with COVID-19;
  • Is waiting for COVID-19 results;
  • Is a close contact of a suspected/probable/confirmed case of COVID-19;
  • Has travelled internationally in the past 14 days.
