Ambassador visited WWF Nepal and Rural Village Water Resource Managemant Project

Pertti Anttinen, Ambassador of Finland to Nepal, and special advicer  Chudamani Joshi visited WWF Nepal and Rural Village Water Resource Management Project in Province No. 5 and 7 between 3rd to 9th March 2019. The objective of the visit was to comprehend the programme and get first hand understanding and monitoring of the project activities.

The RVWRMP III phase project activities includes construction and maintenance of community managed water supply and Sanitation facilities, promotion of livelihoods activities, climate change mitigation, adaptation and enhancing GoN and communities institutionalized capacity in planning and implementation of WASH and livelihood activities.

The team visited Thalara Rural Municipality in Bajhang district. HE Anttinen inaugurated Bhanka Tatopani Water Supply and Sanitation Scheme during the visit and declared Simsair Water Supply and Sanitation Scheme as a first Total Sanitation scheme in the entire province 7. The municipality also declared to celebrate a year round Dignified Menstrual Hygiene management campaign.

WWF Nepal has adopted people centered approach in conservation and alleviating the consequences of people wildlife conflict by supporting the local communities in various ways.

The European union supports Rural Village Water Resources Management Project RVWRMP III in 2016–2022 with 20 million euros.
