Wood looks good on you - How to build a profitable business around recycling of textiles and green production?
Inspiring presentations and panel talk where we will explore how sustainable textile production and recycling can be turned into a profitable business.
Circular economy is the new black and inevitable for a sustainable future. According to WWF, it takes more than 20 000 litres of water to produce just one kg of cotton, which roughly equals one T-shirt and a pair of jeans. In Finland there are several startups that aim to tackle over consumption of water and unnecessary textile waste.
We've invited IonCell and Spinnova - The Sustainable Fibre Company to tell how they've made pulp fiction into pulp reality. The iconic MARIMEKKO will tell how they’ve developed new sustainable textiles and clothes that not only look good, but also do good. Norwegian Tuckify will present their circular subscription plans for clothes.
Last but not least, we want to make waste great again . According to estimates, the Nordics alone produce 360 million kg of textile waste every year. A pilot project in Southwest Finland aims to tackle this problem.
Our event is aimed at both established companies, startups and investors with interest in finding business solutions within circular economy. We welcome fashion designers, students, and everyone who's interested in reducing textile waste and making the world greener.
As an interactive element, we organize a swap shop, where you can swap some of your old clothes and find new ones – sustainable, yet fashionable.
NB: Registration opens after the summer holidays.
Our event is part of Oslo Innovation Week 2019: Explorers, September 23-27. Visit www.oiw.no for full program!
