The TelepART programme extends its reach in Europe

The TelepART international exchange programme piloted by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux promotes the internationalisation of early and mid-career performing artists.

The TelepART platform was launched in the spring of 2016 with the aim to promote exchange between Finland and the Benelux countries in the performing arts field. In May 2017, the Finnish Institute in London joined the programme, making it possible for artists from Great Britain and Ireland to apply for TelepART funding.

Now the TelepART programme has been expanding even further when the Finnish Institute in Hungary ‘FinnAgora’, the Finnish Institute in Germany and the Finnish Institute in Estonia  joined the programme. By joining forces with other institutes, TelepART’s reach will extend to several new countries. Besides Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Great Britain and Ireland, TelepART will now also benefit artists and audiences in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The application process remains the same. The online-based application is open to performing artists wishing to apply for travel support from Finland to the TelepART region and vice versa. TelepART travel funding is awarded specifically to early and mid-career practitioners to support international performance opportunities in the fields of music, theatre, dance, circus and performance art. Performing artists, agencies that represent artists and event organizers based in TelepART countries or Finland are eligible to apply for this low-threshold, quick, low-budget support.

The call for applications is open year-round and decisions are made within two weeks by each respective institute with the assistance of professional organizations including Music Finland, Theatre Info Finland, Circus Info Finland and Dance Info Finland.

The aim is to respond quickly and efficiently to artists with performance opportunities. Conditions for awarding support include a mutual agreement between performer and organizer, the artistic quality of the work, the involvement of at least two countries in the area of operation, the offer of reasonable performance fees as well as the presence of sufficient other funding.
