United States Special Representative for the Arctic Papp to visit Finland

United States Special Representative for the Arctic, Admiral Robert J. Papp will visit Finland on Friday, 23 January. Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will hold official talks with Special Representative Papp. The topics of their discussions will be Arctic cooperation between Finland and the United States and cooperation in the Arctic Council. The United States begins its Chairmanship of the Arctic Council in April 2015. Finland will follow as Chair of the Arctic Council in 2017.

During his visit, Special Representative Papp will also meet with Secretary of State Peter Stenlund of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, he will visit the Finnish Border Guard’s offshore patrol vessel Turva and Arctia Shipping’s icebreaker Urho, and he will speak at a seminar organized by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
