UNDP Administrator Kemal Dervis to visit Finland

Kemal Dervis, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will visit Finland on Tuesday, 22 May. Dervis will meet with representatives of Finland’s Government, visit the Finnish Parliament and hold talks with the senior civil servants of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The UNDP is the United Nations’ global development network. It strives to promote democratic government and to strengthen developing countries’ capacity to respond to global challenges. The UNDP coordinates the United Nations’ efforts to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals and to promote effective use of development aid at country level. The organisation also plays an important role in crisis prevention and reconstruction.

Dervis is a central participant in the ongoing reform of the development sector. In his position as the UNDP Administrator, Dervis is the UN’s third highest official.
