Foreign Minister Stubb to attend the 20th anniversary celebration of the Arctic Centre in Rovaniemi

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will visit Rovaniemi on Tuesday, 29 September. He will speak about the challenges of the Arctic region and the objectives of Finland’s Arctic policy at the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Arctic Centre. The importance of the Arctic region will grow significantly in the near future, the key reasons for the development being the climate change, enhanced exploitation of natural resources, and security policy issues.

The Arctic Centre of University of Lapland is an international centre for multidisciplinary Arctic research and science communications where about 60 people from all over the world work. During his visit to Rovaniemi, Stubb will also visit Rovaniemi Design Week’s Design Challenge event as well as the Upper Secondary School of Ounasvaara.
