Foreign Minister Stubb to accompany President of the Republic Halonen on her visit to Egypt and Syria

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will accompany President of the Republic Tarja Halonen on her official visit to Egypt and Syria on 19-23 October.

In Egypt, Minister Stubb will discuss with Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Aboul Gheit about the Middle East peace process, bilateral and EU affairs, as well as regional issues, such as Iran, Iraq and Sudan. In addition, Stubb will meet researchers at the Al Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies and visit the centre of European studies at the Faculty of Political Science of Cairo University.

In Syria, Minister Stubb will meet Minister for Foreign Affairs Walid Al-Moualem. The topics of discussion between the Foreign Ministers will include the Middle East peace process, as well as regional and EU affairs, and bilateral issues. Furthermore, Stubb will meet Syrian representatives of the world of science and the civil society.
