Foreign Minister Stubb to attend the meeting of Nordic foreign ministers in Oslo

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will take part in the meeting of Nordic foreign ministers to be held in Oslo on Monday, 9 February.

The topic of discussion at the meeting is the development of Nordic cooperation in the field of foreign and security policy. At the meeting the foreign ministers will receive the independent report on the topic compiled by Thorvald Stoltenberg, former defence minister and foreign minister of Norway. Compilation of a report was decided at the Nordic foreign ministers’ meeting in June 2008.

In compiling the report, Stoltenberg was assisted by a high-level working group. The Finnish members of the working group were former MP, researcher Ulla Anttila and Professor Tuomas Forsberg. 

Discussion proper of the recommendations concerning Nordic foreign and security policy cooperation contained in the Stoltenberg report will take place at the Nordic foreign ministers’ meeting in Reykjavik in April 2009.

In addition to receiving the Stoltenberg report, the agenda of the meeting in Oslo will include Afghanistan, the Middle East and Nordic cooperation at the UN.
