Foreign Minister Stubb to visit Israel and the Palestinian Territories

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will travel to Israel and the Palestinian Territories on Tuesday, 2 September. During his trip, Stubb will meet in Israel with President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu.

On the Palestinian side, Stubb will meet with President Mahmud Abbas, Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, Foreign Minister Riad Al-Malk and Ahmed Qureia, Senior Palestinian negotiator for the peace process. Stubb will also visit the EU Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories, known as EU POL COPPS, and will meet Finnish police experts working in Ramallah. In addition, Stubb will become familiar with the situation in the field and will meet representatives of UN organisations.

Foreign Minister Stubb’s visit to Israel and the Palestinian Territories will end on Thursday, 4 September, and he will continue to the Informal EU Foreign Ministers’ Meeting or “Gymnich” to be held in France on 5–6 September.
