Foreign Minister Stubb to attend informal meetings of EU foreign affairs ministers in Brussels and Gödöllö, Hungary

On Thursday, 10 March, Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will participate in a Meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers to be held in Brussels. The topic of the meeting is the situation in the southern neighbourhood of the EU. In the meeting, High Representative Catherine Ashton will present her ideas of the role of the EU as part of the support provided for the region by the international community. The High Representative will take part in an extraordinary European Council meeting to be held on Friday, 11 March, convened to discuss the situation in the southern neighbourhood.
From Brussels, Stubb will continue to the Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers (so-called Gymnich meeting) to be held in Gödöllö, Hungary, on 11-12 March. During the first day of the meeting, the ministers will discuss the European External Action Service that started its operation in December 2010. On Saturday, the ministers will continue the talks about the southern neighbourhood with the EU member candidates.
