Foreign Minister Stubb sends condolences to families of UN peacekeepers killed in Haiti earthquake

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb sent his condolences on 14 January to the families of the UN peacekeepers killed in the Haiti earthquake.

In a letter addressed to the Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Alain Le Roy, Stubb states that it is difficult to comprehend the wide-spread damage and destruction caused by the catastrophic earthquake.

“Please extend my heartfelt condolences to those UN families who have lost their loved ones.”

“The grief and suffering of the affected people of Haiti and the members of the international community touch us all,” Stubb stated.

Foreign Minister Stubb mentioned that Finland is in the process of mobilizing emergency aid resources to the earthquake victims and that the Finnish Red Cross has already dispatched rescue workers to Haiti and is preparing to send a field hospital there.
