Foreign Minister Soini to Arctic Frontiers Conference in Tromsø

The Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini will visit Tromsø in North Norway on 25 January. In Tromsø, he will attend the Arctic Frontiers Conference and deliver a speech entitled "Building on positive experience on the top of the world". The Norwegian Minister for Foreign Affairs BørgeBrende, the Swedish Minister for Nordic Cooperation Kristina Persson, and the US Special Representative for the Arctic, Admiral Robert Papp will also address the conference.

The delegation accompanying Foreign Minister Soini to Norway will include State Secretary Paula Lehtomäki from the Finnish Prime Minister's Office and she will chair a discussion session on economic cooperation in the northern regions of Finland, Norway and Sweden.

The main theme of the Arctic Frontiers Conference is Industry and Environment. The conference will take place this year for the tenth time and it constitutes one of the world's most important events focusing on the Arctic. More than 1,000 participants from 30 different countries are expected to attend.

In Tromsø, Soini will have bilateral discussions with Foreign Minister Brende, visit the Secretariat of the Arctic Council, and participate in the discussion session on economic cooperation in the northern regions of Finland, Norway and Sweden. During his visit, Foreign Minister Soini will also meet Finnish business and other representatives in North Norway.
