Foreign Minister Soini to the NATO Summit in Warsaw

Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini will travel to the NATO Summit in Warsaw on 8–9 July in the delegation led by the President of the Republic and participate in two segments of the summit.

On Friday night, Foreign Minister Soini has been invited to attend the Foreign Ministers' working dinner, in which they will discuss NATO's efforts to project stability in its eastern and southern neighbourhood. In addition to the NATO countries, the five countries participating in the Enhanced Opportunities Partners (EOP) framework and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini will participate in the dinner. Foreign Minister Soini will also take part in the Afghanistan session together with the participating countries in the Resolute Support Mission (RSM). The debate will focus on the situation in Afghanistan and the prospects of the RSM. The policy on financial support to the Afghan security authorities after 2017 will also be outlined.

The Foreign Minister will have bilateral meetings with, for example, his Polish and Canadian counterparts.
