Foreign Minister Kanerva to visit Portugal

Foreign Minister Ilkka Kanerva will visit Portugal on 6–7 June and will have talks in Lisbon with his colleague Luís Amado, the Foreign Minister of Portugal. The main topics of discussion with Portugal, the next country to hold the EU Presidency, are the major issues on the EU agenda: the Constitutional Treaty, Kosovo, the Middle East, relations with Russia, and energy and climate policy.
Of the priorities set for the Portuguese Presidency, which will begin in July, the EU–Africa Summit will also be discussed.
Foreign Minister Kanerva’s agenda in Lisbon will also include a meeting with Luís Marques Mendes, leader of the opposition party PSD.
