Foreign Minister Kanerva to attend the informal EU–NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Oslo

Foreign Minister Ilkka Kanerva will travel to Oslo on 26 April at the invitation of Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, to take part in the trans-Atlantic working dinner that will be held in conjunction with the informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers. Corresponding meetings have been organized before in conjunction with meetings of NATO foreign ministers; the last was in Brussels in December 2006.

Aside from EU and NATO foreign ministers, those invited include Javier Solana, the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy and Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, Secretary General of NATO. The discussions are expected to deal with the current situation in the Middle East and in Kosovo.
