Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb to visit Budapest

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will visit Budapest on the invitation of Foreign Minister János Martonyi on Monday, 30 August. Foreign Minister Stubb will speak at an ambassadors event of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Hungary and will have bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Martonyi. Stubb will also meet President Pál Schmitt and Secretary of State Attila Czene. In addition, Minister Stubb will open the ceremonies at a reception celebrating the 90 years of Finnish-Hungarian relations at the Embassy of Finland in Budapest.

The ministerial colleagues will discuss the Finnish-Hungarian bilateral relations and topical EU issues. Hungary will hold the rotating EU Presidency for the first time in the spring of 2011. Other topics for discussion include current issues in international politics, such as the Middle East peace process and the situation in Iran and Afghanistan.
