Paavo Väyrynen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, to speak at the Northern Dimension Seminar

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Northern Dimension Research Centre of Lappeenranta University of Technology are organising an international seminar, “The Renewed Northern Dimension Policy and the Next Steps – Focus on Energy Efficiency, Innovations and Logistics”, on 31 May – 1 June. The seminar will be held on the premises of Lappeenranta University of Technology.
At the seminar, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen will be the main speaker from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The other main speakers include Secretary General Halldór Ásgrímsson from the Nordic Council of Ministers, Principal Advisor Janos Herman from the European Commission and Deputy Director Andrey Avetisyan from the Department of European Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The topics of discussion at the seminar will be, among others, how the joint Northern Dimension policy of the EU, Russia, Norway and Iceland that was revised in 2006 could be implemented especially in the fields of transport and logistics, innovation and energy efficiency.
