Foreign Ministers of Finland, Sweden and Norway to meet in Bodö

Foreign Minister Ilkka Kanerva will meet with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt and Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Bodö, Norway on 9–10 October. Among other topics, foreign and security policy issues will be discussed at the meeting.

To be discussed are strengthening of connections in regional issues and the possibility of intensifying cooperation in international crisis management tasks. The most topical examples are the ISAF peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan and the cooperation to be carried out in connection with the EU’s Nordic battlegroup.

The ministers will also discuss the Northern region, where the possible areas of cooperation include business projects, infrastructure projects and energy projects. Regional cooperation emphasises application of the Northern Dimension.
