Joint meeting between the governments of Finland and Sweden

On Friday 8 May, the President of the Republic and the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the upcoming meeting between the governments of Finland and Sweden to be organised in Hämeenlinna on 14 May.
Topics to be discussed at the meeting between the governments of Finland and Sweden include EU themes with reference to the upcoming Swedish EU Presidency, cooperation in higher education and research and key projects relating to the Baltic Sea and other environmental issues. The meeting to be organised is the first joint meeting between the governments, and it takes place in the context of both countries’ commemoration of Year 1809.
President of the Republic and the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy also discussed cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency, along with agreements concerning international materiel cooperation in defence administration.
Reports on the European Union’s Eastern Partnership and mission in Chad were also heard at the meeting.
