Rimma Salonen's returning to Finland

Finnish citizen Rimma Salonen approached Finland's Embassy in Tallinn on 31 July and declared her willingness to return to Finland. On Salonen's request the Embassy supported her in arranging the return trip and informed the authorities on the matter. 

Rimma Salonen is under suspicion of a kidnap committed in 2008. Being a suspect, Salonen was wanted by the police and she has been in police custody for questioning after returning to Finland. The District Court of Tampere made a decision to release Rimma Salonen on 3 August and imposed a travel ban on her. The matter is managed by Tampere City Police.

The Russian Foreign Ministry invited Finnish Chargé d'Affaires Arja Makkonen to discuss the matter on 3 August. It was concluded that the matter is dealt in Finland in accordance with Finnish legislation and legal order.
