6 August, 2008
Former Norwegian Defence and Foreign Minister Thorvald Stoltenberg is to visit Finland on 6-11 August. The Nordic Foreign Ministers agreed in June that a report should be carried out on the development of the foreign and security policy. Thorvald Stoltenberg, Head of Red Cross in Norway, chairs the high-level working group which is to help him draft a neutral report focusing on cooperation possibilities.
The working group will examine tendencies and identify possible cooperation regions with a 10-15-year perspective. The results of the report will be published in December at the Nordic Ministerial Meeting in Copenhagen.
Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb appointed two Finnish members to”Stoltenberg’s group”: Professor Tuomas Forsberg and former Finnish MP, researcher Ulla Anttila.
During his visit to Finland, Stoltenberg will meet with the Finnish members of the high-level working group and with key decision-makers.
